The Pennsylvania Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Lehigh University has had a tradition of values-based recruitment since its re-charter in 1996.  Our Balanced Man program commits us to the values of living our lives as gentlemen, leaders, athletes, and scholars, in an effort to live a balanced life.  We feel it is essential to embody our ideals throughout our everyday life, and it is this attitude that has helped Sig Ep become the campus’ – and the nation’s – largest fraternity. Brothers of SigEp have used these ideals to achieve numerous positions both on-campus and off it.  Within the brotherhood are:
  • Class of 2011 Vice President
  • Student Senators
  • IFC Communication Chairman
  • Greek Emerging Leaders
  • Orientation Leaders
  • Association of Student Alumni members
  • Leadership Lehigh members
Brothers in Sigma Phi Epsilon also participate in numerous volunteer and athletic programs.  Keeping all this in mind, SigEp aims to recruit new members who live balanced lives committed to constant improvement of themselves and their communities.  SigEp is one of the only chapters at Lehigh that participates in year-round recruitment.  As with most chapters, the brotherhood participates fully in spring formal recruitment; rush events include:
  • Open Houses
  • Dinners at the Chapter House
  • Friday Football Games
  • Community Service Projects
  • Dinner and Comedy Club Trips to New York City.
These events help brothers to get to know potential new members in a fun and entertaining atmosphere.  Should a student be hesitant about joining a fraternity and decide not to participate in spring recruitment, SigEp also participates in fall recruitment for upperclassmen.  Fall recruitment is generally a smaller-scale and more relaxed recruitment period, but still just as valuable to the brotherhood.  Hibachi dinner nights and Monday Night Football nights are always great ways for upperclassmen to rush in the fall recruitment period, and are generally very well attended by brothers and rushes alike.
