Election for Cancer Research Campaign

The 21st Annual Election for Cancer Research recently concluded with a closing ceremony at the
Gander Room. After weeks of campaigning, co-chairmen Matthew Melillo and Kyle Schreiner were
proud to announce that $20,000 had been raised for the American Cancer Society. Thirty organizations from all across campus joined together to spread cancer awareness and compete against one another to raise the most money. Voting booths were stationed at Upper U.C., Ulrich, and Rathbone. Online donations through the Relay for Life website continued to be an important factor for candidates in their efforts to reach out to the community. A new partnership with Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and The Office of the First-Year Experience was made for the Family Weekend 5K Walk/Run that also helped raise money for the cause. With six participating organizations having raised $1000 or more on their own, it looks as though the ECR will continue to be one of the most successful fundraising campaigns on Lehigh’s campus.
